Converse x NBHD Chuck Taylor 1970s Ox Hi

Inspired by the biker culture in which he’s so ingrained

Infusing Japanese streetwear with distinct Americana influence, Shinsuke Takiawa’s Neighborhood has been creating its own boundaries since 1994. Partnering here with the All-American Converse to offer a reimagined Chuck Taylor, Takiawa infuses the iconic footwear staple with his own personal touches. Finished in signature black and inspired by the biker culture in which he’s so ingrained, the classic has been reinvented to stand up to the rigours of motorcycle riding. Reinforcing the lace loops and inner foot with hard-wearing leather and partnering with the sneaker’s ever-present rubberised toe cap, a forefoot strap adds necessary strength for the shifting of gears. Appearing on both shoes, to ensure protection irrespective of the bike’s country of origin, the printed ‘shift’ pairs with ‘motorcycle’ under the All Star heel patch, completing the sneaker with Takiawa’s clear intentions.
